TYPES OF FUNDING

Self Funded

If you require care and you have capital or savings over the current government threshold of £23,250.00, you will be classed as a self funder. (this higher limit threshold is being reviewed and is due to rise in 2025). This means that you will be responsible for paying the full amount of your care and support needs. Advantage of this is, you can choose any care home you please.

Local Authority (Council) Funded

If you have savings less than the higher government threshold you are eligible for a heath and social care assessment (carried out by your local council or authority) and they will assess your contribution towards the cost of your care payable to them, they will then pay the care home the fees. Example; you have £15000, the council may ask you to contribute £100 per week to the cost of your care and they will pay the rest depending on the homes weekly fee. (maybe a third party top up explained below)

Funded Nursing care

Following assessment the NHS will part or full pay the care costs for the medical elements of the care, they also may share this cost with the local authority. With no cost to you.

Third Party top up

If your savings are less than the higher threshold, the council (as above) will assess your money and ask you to contribute to your care costs. A third party top up maybe needed by the care facility to reach their weekly fees. This will need to be paid by a family member, loved one or advocate. This will be agreed by the home and the third party. Example; you have £15000, the council may ask you to contribute £100 per week to the cost of your care, the Local Authority will make this up to their rate which could be £650 per week, however the care home fees are £800 per week, the short fall £150 per week will need to be paid for by the third party (this can not be out of your money as this has already been assessed by the Local Authority).

LET US DO THE WORK FOR YOU!

Let us source the homes or care, let us negotiate the weekly fees.

Our specialist team work with providers and agree in writing a set weekly fee which can be guaranteed for a set period of time.

All providers have an annual uplift of fees, this is generally inline with inflation*
